When my friend Melanie moved to town a couple of years ago, I didn't know what I was getting. She was in pain at the time and intense about all her thoughts, but we have kids the same age and we both love Jesus enough to make him a priority. The longer we've been friends, the more I like her.
She doesn't bat an eye to talk about the hard feelings she experiences. She is serious about grace for others—enough to let me know and give me a second chance when I hurt her. She knows her limitations and wrestles with them honestly.
She's also a badass business woman, who sells paint and refurbishes furniture for a living. We laugh at similar sub-culture peculiarities and relish in the same life-giving worship. She's a treasure to me and she's throwing me a book-signing party, Saturday, May 8 from 11-3.
