Tech Curse

Brandi K Harris, MS, LPC & LMFT

I am actually a very lucky person. I can't count the number of times I've won at pool because somebody else's 8 ball went in the pocket early. I win raffles. I win board games that I'm not good at. I win contests at the state fair that you're not supposed to be able to win. My dad used to beg me to play the stock market. I. am. lucky.

Except in this one area. I don't know if it's because I was born before the internet, or if it's because my whole being is resistant to things that seem too good to be true, but technology does NOT go well for me.

When I try to take a picture on my phone, it tells me my storage is full. Then I can't find my connector cord. Then my bluetooth won't register. Then my laptop crashes when I try to download my pictures. Or upload? I can never remember. Then when I restart it, I need an update, which takes 3 hours. Then half my pictures are missing. Then my husband tells me I can just use the cloud, which promptly rejects me and cancels our family account. Then somehow the letter T stops registering on my keyboard. So, back to my phone… and now my camera won't focus. Then I fall into a black hole of hopelessness and have to go to bed.

It's really nothing short of a miracle that I have been able to publish a website.
